Further, the regulator explained that in such scams, fraudsters often claim to be CySEC officials or representatives as well as real or fake authorities. The scammers claim to represent or be CySEC or pretend to be other authorities. The scammers approach investors through emails that contain the CySEC stamp and logo as well as their name, address and official stamp. Fraudsters will often falsely promise to compensate investors for damages resulting from dealings with sanctioned companies. This is how they get personal information.

The regulator added:

CySEC warns the public not to give money to anyone who contacts them in the same way as the examples above.

CySEC actively warns about fraudulent financial service firms and websites.
